15 arrested for drug-related offenses in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace over one week

A total of 15 individuals were arrested between June 16 and June 22, 2025, across various regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as part of a targeted police operation to combat drug trafficking and use. The arrests were carried out by police units from the Directorates of Alexandroupoli, Kavala, and Drama.

Of the 15 arrested, 13 were Greek nationals and 2 were foreign nationals. Authorities have filed 15 separate case files against them for violations of Greece’s drug laws.

Major Incidents
In the most notable case on June 16 in Alexandroupoli, officers from the Alexandroupoli Drug Enforcement and Crime Investigation Unit arrested a local business owner suspected of selling narcotics through his shop. Two other Greek nationals were also implicated.

During the operation, police seized:

  • 33 vape cartridges containing small amounts of cannabis oil (total: 33ml)
  • 14 cannabis cigarettes (total: 21 grams)
  • Loose unprocessed cannabis (total: 147 grams)
  • A small quantity of processed cannabis (hashish)

In another incident on June 19, officers arrested a Greek man who had received a package via courier containing a small quantity of unprocessed cannabis. The parcel and its contents were seized.

Additional Arrests Across the Region
In 13 additional incidents, local police units—including the Alexandroupoli Crime Unit, Samothraki Police Department, Thasos Police Department, Kavala Migration Management Department, Orfanos Police Station, and the Crime Units of Drama and Xanthi—conducted inspections and made further arrests:

  • Two Greek nationals, one foreign man, and one foreign woman were arrested on Samothraki.
  • Three Greek nationals were arrested in Kavala.
  • Four Greek nationals in Drama.
  • Two Greek nationals in Xanthi.

Police confiscated:

  • 20.5 grams of processed cannabis
  • 36.57 grams of unprocessed cannabis
  • Two cannabis cigarettes
  • Small quantities of cocaine
  • Processed and synthetic cannabis
  • One metal grinder

All case files have been submitted to the competent Prosecutors. The preliminary investigations are being conducted by the Alexandroupoli Drug Enforcement Unit, along with crime units and local police departments from Kavala, Drama, Xanthi, Samothraki, Thasos, and Paggaio.
