Israeli national arrested on Samothrace with multiple types of drugs
Greek authorities arrested two foreign nationals on the island of Samothrace on Wednesday, September 9, following separate drug-related checks at the land zone of Kamariotissa Port.
The arrests involved a 35-year-old Israeli national and a 34-year-old Italian national. A variety of narcotic substances were allegedly found in the possession of the Israeli man, along with a precision scale.
Israeli national found with cannabis, cocaine, ketamine and MDMA
According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, officers from the Security Office of the Samothrace Port Authority and the Regional Narcotics Enforcement Team (PODIN) of the Central Port Authority of Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli) arrested the 35-year-old Israeli national during a check at Kamariotissa Port.
Authorities said the man was found carrying multiple packages containing different substances. The seized items included:
- 1 gram of raw cannabis
- 0.9 grams of processed cannabis
- 0.7 grams of cocaine
- 3.4 grams of ketamine
- 6.9 grams of MDMA
- A hand-rolled cigarette containing tobacco mixed with raw cannabis, weighing 0.7 grams
- Two pieces of paper reportedly impregnated with LSD
- Five 200-milligram modafinil tablets without the required medical prescription
- An electronic vaping device with seven cartridges containing cannabis oil
- Two glass vials containing an unidentified liquid substance suspected to be a narcotic
- One package containing 2.2 grams of an unidentified substance
One precision scale
All the items were confiscated by the First Port Department of Samothrace, operating under the Central Port Authority of Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli), which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
The seized narcotic substances are expected to be sent to the Chemical Service of Central Macedonia for laboratory analysis.
Italian national arrested with cannabis
In a separate incident later the same day, officers arrested a 34-year-old Italian national at Kamariotissa Port.
The arrest was carried out by personnel from the Samothrace Port Authority's Security Office and the Regional Narcotics Enforcement Team of the Central Port Authority of Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli), in cooperation with the narcotics detection dog “Laika” and officers from the Drug Enforcement Department of the Dedeağaç Police Directorate.
During the inspection, authorities found a nylon package containing 5 grams of raw cannabis in the man's possession.
The substance was confiscated and will also be sent to the Chemical Service of Central Macedonia for analysis. The First Port Department of Samothrace is conducting the preliminary investigation in the case.
