Türkiye’s exports to neighboring countries reach $25.3 billion in 11 months
Türkiye exported 25.31 billion dollars’ worth of goods to its neighboring countries — Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece — in the January–November period. This represents a 3.4% increase compared with the same period last year.
According to data compiled from the Ministry of Trade, Türkiye’s overall exports in the first 11 months of the year rose 3.7%, reaching 247.2 billion dollars.
In the January–November period, exports to neighboring countries totaled 25,310,335,000 dollars, up from 24,476,926,000 dollars in the same period of 2024.
Iraq Remains Top Export Market Among Neighbors
Iraq was Türkiye’s largest export destination among neighboring countries, with shipments amounting to approximately 9.3 billion dollars. It was followed by:
- Bulgaria – 4.2 billion dollars
- Greece – 3.2 billion dollars
- Georgia – 2.3 billion dollars
The countries that recorded the highest annual export growth rates were:
- Syria – 54.2%
- Azerbaijan – 6.1%
- Bulgaria – 6%
Chemicals Lead Sectoral Exports
An analysis of sectoral distribution shows that “chemicals and chemical products” topped the list of exports to neighboring countries, reaching 3.94 billion dollars. This was followed by:
- Grains, pulses, oilseeds, and related products – 2.87 billion dollars
- Furniture, paper, and forest products – 2.19 billion dollars
The sector with the lowest export volume was ornamental plants and products, totaling 34.37 million dollars.
The export calculations include Türkiye’s land neighbors: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece. Due to the absence of official data, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is excluded. Additionally, Turkey does not currently conduct direct official overland trade with Armenia.
