Greek-Turkish economic relations to dominate Pierrakakis–Şimşek meeting
Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis is set to meet his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Şimşek on Wednesday as part of the structured economic dialogue that has recently developed between Greece and Turkiye.
The first meeting in this format took place on October 16, 2025, in Washington, D.C., establishing a stable channel for communication on economic and investment matters.
The upcoming meeting coincides with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to Turkiye for the High-Level Cooperation Council, in which the Finance Minister is also participating. Officials noted that bilateral economic cooperation plays a key role in promoting the positive agenda between the two countries.
According to AMNA, talks are expected to focus on strengthening connectivity between the two economies, with particular emphasis on expanding bilateral trade — currently around €5 billion per year — enhancing export opportunities, and facilitating smoother trade flows.
The two sides will also explore ways to boost investment, promote joint projects in strategic areas such as innovation, green transition, and digital development, and strengthen cooperation between business associations, chambers, and investment promotion agencies to create lasting links between the productive ecosystems of both countries.
