Bus crash in Southern Türkiye kills 9, injures 26
The accident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at the Kömürler Junction in Antalya’s Döşemealtı district when the bus struck roadside barriers and overturned. Emergency teams, including health services, firefighters, AFAD, police and gendarmerie units, were dispatched to the scene for rescue and evacuation efforts.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin said the bus lost control while negotiating a curve, noting that wet road conditions and fog were present at the time. He added that a technical investigation is underway, and preliminary findings suggest the vehicle may have been traveling at an unsafe speed for the conditions.
Most of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, including Antalya City Hospital and Training and Research Hospital. Several remain in critical condition.
In a separate incident on the same day, a collision between two vehicles on the Antalya–Isparta highway near the Kazak Tunnel in Burdur province left seven people dead and five injured. Authorities are investigating both crashes.
