Samothrace tourist recovering after thermal springs accident
A 22-year-old tourist who suffered severe burns in an accident at the thermal springs of Samothrace is not in life-threatening condition, Mayor Athanasios Vitsas said.
In a social media statement, Vitsas said the injured man had been transferred to a hospital in Thessaloniki, where he will remain for treatment until he has fully recovered.
"His life is not in danger," the mayor said, while wishing the tourist a speedy recovery.
Vitsas said the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation and that the Municipality of Samothrace has cooperated fully with the competent authorities since the incident, providing all necessary information.
Following the accident, the mayor urged residents and visitors to observe posted safety signs, avoid areas where work is being carried out and follow safety precautions.
