In the city of Thessaloniki, on Saturday, September 8 a protest was held against the “name agreement” made with Macedonia. Throughout the protest, there was a conflict between the police and the demonstrators. A Turkish plated vehicle was also attacked by extreme right-wing groups in that region.
According to several news sites, Turkish citizens were shocked when they were attacked with iron sticks and stones. In the attack made by the “Golden Dawn” racist organisation, Turkish citizens were threatened.
The demonstrators threatened the people who were inside the car and broke the car windows. The extreme right-wing group, who painted the emblem of the right-wing extremist group on the car's body, also verbally abused the Turkish citizens.
Deputy Mayor of Thessaloniki Spiros Pengas used the following expressions in his written statement about the attack:
"Shame! Greek but especially the hospitality of Thessaloniki is a historic value that should not be injured under any circumstances!"
