Poll shows narrowing gap between New Democracy, PASOK
Despite maintaining its lead, ND has lost some ground, while PASOK has managed to reduce the distance between the two parties. SYRIZA, under new leadership following the departure of Stefanos Kasselakis, has fallen to third place.
According to the latest figures, New Democracy is at 23.7%, PASOK at 13.2%, the nationalist Greek Solution at 9.9%, and SYRIZA at 9.1%. Other parties include the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) at 7.7%, Niki at 3.8%, nationalist Voice of Reason at 3.4%, and the left-wing Plefsi Eleftherias at 3.3%.
The poll also indicates a clear preference among SYRIZA voters for Stefanos Kasselakis over his predecessor, Alexis Tsipras. When asked who could better enhance SYRIZA's social and political impact and deliver a stronger performance in the next elections, Kasselakis was preferred by 31% of respondents, compared to just 15% for Tsipras. The question of whether Tsipras will run for the party leadership remains uncertain.
Additionally, the poll highlights PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis' strong position in the internal party leadership race. Among PASOK voters, Androulakis holds 28.7% support, followed by Athens Mayor Haris Doukas with 23.1%. Other contenders include former Minister and EU Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou with 17.2%, former Minister and MP Pavlos Geroulanos with 9.4%, and MPs Michalis Katrinis and Nadia Giannakopoulou with 4.4% and 3.3% respectively. Androulakis is also ahead of Doukas in a potential runoff, with 43.8% compared to 33.1%.
