New Democracy holds comfortable lead over SYRIZA and PASOK, poll shows
A poll released on Tuesday showed the ruling New Democracy (ND) maintaining a strong lead over the main opposition parties SYRIZA and PASOK.
The survey, conducted by Opinion Poll for Action24 TV, placed New Democracy at 27.1%, PASOK in second with 13.1% and SYRIZA falling to third with 10.5%. Following them are the Communist KKE at 8.8%, nationalist Greek Solution at 7.4%, left-wing Plefsi Eleftherias at 3.6% and religious nationalist Niki at 3.4%.
The poll also measured voting intentions for the upcoming internal PASOK leadership elections in October. Among PASOK voters, current president Nikos Androulakis leads with 29.2%, followed closely by Athens Mayor Haris Doukas at 26.4%. Anna Diamantopoulou is at 15.4% and Pavlos Geroulanos at 14.8%, with the remaining candidates polling below 5%.
In a potential second-round matchup, Doukas leads Androulakis by 3.4%, with 45.7% of the vote compared to Androulakis’s 42.9%.
