ND holds steady lead, PASOK entrenched in second place, poll reveals
A new nationwide survey by Pulse showed ruling New Democracy maintaining a significant lead, with socialist PASOK solidifying its position in second place.
The poll, conducted for Skai on November 24-26 on a sample of 1,129 respondents, also showed that the conservative party’s decision to expel former prime minister Antonis Samaras is widely supported, with 42% of respondents backing it, surging to 76% among ND voters.
Meanwhile, leftist SYRIZA faces a political crisis after losing its status as the main opposition due to internal splits.
Half of respondents (49%) said that they do not see the party bouncing back with its new leadership under Sokratis Famellos, while 26% expressed the sentiment that it has one last chance to recover.
The decision by former leader Stefanos Kassealakis’ to launch the Movement for Democracy party has split public opinion, with 38% approving but 75% unlikely to vote for it. However, 52% of SYRIZA voters are open to supporting it.
The poll places ND at 24%, a commanding 10-point lead over PASOK at 14%.
The Communist Party (KKE) ranks third at 7.5%, followed by SYRIZA and nationalist Greek Solution tied at 6.5%.
The right wing Voice of Reason and the Movement for Democracy each garnered 4%, ahead of Course for Freedom (3.5%) and religious nationalist Niki (3%).
