Mitsotakis asks Israel to exercise its right of defence by protecting the civilian population

Making a statement before the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Mr Mitsotakis stated that today's meeting coincides with a period when Greece's immediate environment is facing great dangers.
"First of all, I would like to express my sadness and discomfort at the attack on the hospital in Gaza and the need to investigate what exactly happened," Mitsotakis said.
Stating that Greece recognises Israel's right to self-defence, Mitsotakis said: "However, this should always be in accordance with international law and the main concern at the moment should be the protection of the civilian population in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid to this civilian population."
Mitsotakis said that he would visit the region as soon as security conditions were ripe and that he would visit Cairo on Saturday to attend an international meeting organised by Egypt to discuss the Palestinian problem.
