Major disruptions to public transport and flights this Friday

All train services, including the Athens Suburban Railway (Proastiakos), will be suspended throughout the day.
In Athens, the metro and tram will operate only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate the movement of people attending the mass demonstration at Syntagma Square.
Buses and trolleys in most parts of Athens will not be providing service, though those operating in eastern and western Attica are expected to run as usual.
Taxis in Athens will not operate as drivers join the strike. However, the Attica Taxi Drivers’ Union (SATA) has called on its members to offer free transportation to protesters heading to Syntagma Square from designated pick-up points: Syngrou-Fix, Karaiskaki Square, Victoria Square and Megaron Mousikis (Athens Concert Hall) metro stations.
Due to the participation of the Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association in the 24-hour strike (1 a.m. to 11.59 p.m.), there will be flight cancellations and schedule adjustments throughout the day.
Aegean cancels most flights on February 28 due to Tempe strike
Aegean and Olympic Air have announced a series of cancellations and changes to domestic and international flight ahead of the 24-hour general strike called by unions on February 28 to mark the second anniversary of the Tempe railway disaster.
Earlier this week, air traffic controllers said they would be joining in the nationwide general strike.
In a statement, the company said “all scheduled flights of the domestic and international network are canceled” on the date of the strike, except for a number of specific cases, which are given on the airline’s website.
In Thessaloniki, only 57 buses, representing the number of victims from the Tempe tragedy, will operate in the city. However, KTEL intercity buses providing urban transport will continue to run as scheduled.
The Thessaloniki metro will operate throughout the day to facilitate transportation to the Aristotelous Square demonstration, except for a two-hour work stoppage in the evening. Taxi drivers will halt operations for three hours.
