Interview poll: New Democracy leads at 26.7%, PASOK consolidates second place
Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party remains firmly in first place with 26.7%, according to a new opinion poll conducted by Interview for Politic. PASOK holds second position, while voter fragmentation and political disengagement continue to shape the landscape.
The survey also reveals skepticism toward emerging political figures and limited public enthusiasm for the political rebranding efforts of former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Voting Intention: Fragmented Political Scene
According to the poll, party preferences are as follows:
New Democracy (ND): 26.7%
PASOK: second place
Plefsi Eleftherias: 6.3%
Greek Solution: 5.4%
Communist Party of Greece (KKE): 5.0%
MeRA25: 3.5%
Voice of Reason: 3.4%
SYRIZA: 3.0%
Movement of Democracy: 2.7%
NIKI: 2.0%
New Left: 1.0%
Other parties: 11.4%
The high percentage attributed to “other parties” is seen as a clear indicator of growing voter detachment from established political options.
Trust in Governance: Mitsotakis Leads, “No One” Close Behind
When asked who they trust most to govern the country, respondents ranked:
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: 31.7%
“No one”: 31.2%
Nikos Androulakis: 9.7%
Zoe Konstantopoulou: 6.6%
Kyriakos Velopoulos: 5.1%
Lower scores were recorded for Stefanos Kasselakis (3.7%), Dimitris Koutsoumbas (3.1%), and Sokratis Famellos (2.0%).
7 in 10 Say Maria Karystianou Is “Not Ready” for Politics
Public opinion remains cautious regarding Maria Karystianou’s potential entry into active politics. Seventy percent of respondents believe she is “slightly or not at all ready,” while 27% consider her “quite or very ready.” The remaining 3% did not respond.
Although her recent media appearance significantly affected her public image—48% say it worsened, 37% say it remained unchanged, and 14% say it improved—this shift did not translate into increased voting potential.
Overall, 37% of respondents say they could consider voting for a hypothetical Karystianou-led party, though strong commitment remains limited.
Karystianou Outperforms Tsipras in Hypothetical Matchup
In a hypothetical scenario asking who could defeat Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an election, 53% said neither Maria Karystianou nor Alexis Tsipras could succeed.
However, Karystianou scored 34%, more than double Tsipras’s 13%, highlighting her relative advantage in public perception despite doubts about her political readiness.
Tsipras Rebranding Fails to Impress Voters
The poll also indicates widespread indifference toward Alexis Tsipras’s political rebranding:
- 49% describe it as indifferent
- 35% say it is performing worse than expected
- Only 14% believe it is going well
Correspondingly, 74.5% of respondents say they are not at all likely to support a Tsipras-led party, while just 9.9% say they are very likely to do so.
