Due to recent seismic activity in the Aegean Sea, thousands have left Santorini, prompting authorities to increase police presence to prevent potential thefts in the abandoned areas.

According to ERT, concerns over a major earthquake have led to the evacuation of over 9,000 people from the island in recent days. In response, security patrols and inspections have been intensified.

Meanwhile, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported that the region has experienced hundreds of small earthquakes, with the largest tremor recorded at 5.1 magnitude at 21:09 local time last night.
