Greece probes Pro-Palestine post by embassy in Luxembourg

Greece’s Foreign Ministry has launched an investigation after the official social media account of the Greek Embassy in Luxembourg posted content promoting nationwide protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.

Responding to a journalist’s question on Monday, a ministry spokesperson stressed that the post “does not reflect the official position of our country” and confirmed that administrative and disciplinary procedures have been initiated to determine how it was published and who was responsible.

“The procedures provided by law have already been initiated in order to clarify the circumstances under which the contested post was made on the official social media account of the Greek Embassy in Luxembourg and to assign the appropriate responsibilities,” the spokesperson said.

The post, published on Sunday, featured a photo of protest posters and read:

GREECE, SUNDAY AUGUST 10: ‘DAY OF ACTION’ FOR PALESTINE. In more than 100 locations across the country, on the islands and on the mainland, demonstrations are taking place today demanding ‘an end to the genocide’ in Gaza.”

Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the post was made by embassy staff or through unauthorized access to the account.
