Greece announces cabinet reshuffle: Kotsiras appointed to transport role, Marinakis retains Government Spokesperson position
The Greek government announced a cabinet reshuffle on Monday afternoon, introducing several new appointments across key ministries while confirming continuity in the role of government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis.
According to the official announcement, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis appointed Giorgos Kotsiras as Deputy Minister for Transport, marking one of the key changes in the latest reshuffle.
Additional appointments include Dimitris Markopoulos as Deputy Minister of Finance responsible for tax policy, and Marilena Soukuli as Deputy Minister for Environment and Energy. Tasos Hatzivasiliou was also named Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs.
Meanwhile, Alexandra Papadopoulou will continue in her role at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Minister responsible for service-related duties.
Despite recent speculation, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis will remain in office, according to government sources and ruling New Democracy Party officials.
The reshuffle also brings changes within parliamentary roles, with Stratos Simopoulos set to replace Dimitris Markopoulos as party parliamentary spokesperson.
The newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers are expected to officially assume their duties following their swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for Friday, June 12, in the presence of President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
