George Tsipras resigns from SYRIZA, citing Party's decline

MP and former SYRIZA Parliamentary Group director George Tsipras has announced his resignation from the party, delivering a strongly worded letter to the local organization in West Attica.
In his resignation letter, Tsipras claimed that SYRIZA has shifted “from unreliability to political insignificance,” no longer seen by society as a viable alternative. He pointed to a lack of serious reflection on the party’s mistakes during its time in government (2015–2019) and in subsequent years.
He criticized the leadership and internal party structures for failing to address the crisis with corrective action. He also expressed concern over the direction taken under current leader Stefanos Kasselakis, saying the recent period has deepened internal problems.
Tsipras warned of a continued downward spiral if the party—and any future political initiatives—repeats the same flawed practices.
