Course of Freedom narrows gap with New Democracy to single digits, poll shows

A new opinion poll by MRB for Open TV shows Zoe Konstantopoulou’s anti-establishment Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias) party gaining ground on the ruling New Democracy, narrowing the gap to 6.9%.
According to the poll, New Democracy leads with 20.4% of voter support, followed by Course of Freedom at 13.5%.
Trailing behind are the socialist PASOK at 9.4%, the nationalist Greek Solution at 8.6%, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) at 5.6%, the leftist SYRIZA at 5%, the religious nationalist Niki at 3%, the far-right Voice of Reason at 2.8%, Yanis Varoufakis’ MeRA25 at 2.5%, Stefanos Kasselakis’ Movement for Democracy at 2.4%, and the New Left at 1.5%.
Konstantopoulou also ranks second in suitability for the role of prime minister, with 13.2%, behind New Democracy’s Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who leads with 21.4%.
The Course of Freedom party, which received 3.17% of the vote in the 2023 national elections, has been surging in the polls in recent months, now steadily holding second place. The party’s rise has been fueled by mounting public scrutiny over the handling of the Tempe disaster.
Konstantopoulou, a former speaker of Parliament from February to October 2015, was previously an MP with the SYRIZA party. She left the party in July 2015 due to her opposition to the approval of the third bailout memorandum.
