Platform for tax declarations to open March 16
According to estimates, over 1.5 million salary earners and pensioners should expect to get pre-filled tax declarations with data provided culled by tax service systems.
This pre-filled system introduced in recent years facilitates the submission of the tax declarations, but must still be reviewed for mistakes by taxpayers, who may need to file a correction. If taxpayers do not file the pre-filled declarations, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will automatically submit the tax filing at some time after April 12 .
Tax service AADE said that taxpayers should check the following pre-filled fields:
– Income and tax withholdings
– E-receipts transactions for 2025 (POS, e-banking, credit/debit cards), which must be equivalent to 30% of taxable income; if below, the difference is additionally taxed by 22%
– Proof of living expenses (houses, cars, assets may raise imputed income above what a taxpayer has declared), and
– Minors in the family.
The deadline for correcting a tax declaration is July 15, 2026, while taxes assessed will be payable in eight monthly instalments. The first instalment must be paid by the end of July.
Discounts of the total amount of tax owed are between 4% if paid by April 30, and 2% if filed by July 15. In 2025, some 1.4 million taxpayers chose to pay early, with over half (750,000) receiving the 4% discount.
