ELSTAT reported that energy and tourism-related costs surged last month, with the former driven by colder-than-usual weather in February 2025 compared to February 2024, and the latter linked to the extended tourism season.
Natural gas prices spiked by an extraordinary 41.1% year-on-year.
Statistics also revealed a 17.5% increase in hotel rates, a 10.8% rise in air transport fares, and an 8.5% uptick in package holiday prices compared to February 2024.
Additionally, residential rents saw a 9.9% average increase, health insurance premiums rose by 7%, electricity costs climbed 6.7%, and clothing and footwear prices were up 6.4%.
