Eurozone producer prices fall more than expected in June
Industrial producer prices in the euro area fell 0.3% month-on-month in June, exceeding market expectations for a 0.2% decline, according to preliminary data released by Eurostat on Wednesday.
Producer prices across the European Union declined 0.2% during the month, reversing the 0.2% increases recorded in both the euro area and the EU in May.
Energy posts steepest monthly drop
Energy prices recorded the largest monthly decline in the euro area, falling 1.5%.
Meanwhile, prices for intermediate goods rose 0.3%, capital goods increased 0.2%, durable consumer goods climbed 0.2%, and non-durable consumer goods remained unchanged.
Across the EU, energy prices dropped 1.4% from the previous month. Intermediate goods and capital goods each increased 0.3%, durable consumer goods rose 0.2%, while non-durable consumer goods edged down 0.1%.
Excluding energy, industrial producer prices increased 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU.
Lithuania records largest monthly decline
Among EU member states, Lithuania posted the sharpest monthly fall in producer prices at 1.7%, followed by Ireland at 1.5%, and Bulgaria and Greece, both at 1.3%.
Slovakia recorded the largest monthly increase at 1.1%, followed by Romania at 1.0% and Estonia at 0.9%.
Annual producer prices continue to rise
Compared with June 2025, industrial producer prices increased 4.6% in the euro area and 4.7% across the EU, in line with market expectations.
Energy prices remained the main driver of annual inflation, rising 8.8% in the euro area and 10% in the EU.
Bulgaria recorded the highest annual increase in producer prices among EU member states at 18.2%, followed by Romania at 14.3% and Ireland at 11.4%. Luxembourg was the only member state to post an annual decline, with producer prices falling 3.2%.
