Annual inflation in Greece edged up to 3% in February, from 2.9% in January, according to flash estimates released by Eurostat.

Across the eurozone, annual inflation is estimated at 1.9% in February, up from 1.7% the previous month. Services recorded the highest annual increase at 3.4%, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco at 2.6%. Non-energy industrial goods rose 0.7%, while energy prices remained negative at -3.2%.

The highest inflation rates in the euro area were seen in Slovakia (4%), Croatia (3.9%) and Lithuania (3.2%), while Cyprus (0.9%), France (1.1%) and Belgium (1.4%) recorded the lowest.

Unemployment rate feel to 7.7%

Meanwhile, Greece’s unemployment rate fell to 7.7% in January 2026, down from 9.8% a year earlier and 7.9% in December 2025, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The number of unemployed dropped to 369,146 — a decline of 92,711 people year-on-year, marking a 20.1% decrease, and down 1% compared with the previous month.
