Slovenia has imposed a travel ban on Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, joining a growing list of EU nations responding to his pro-Russian stance and efforts to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deputy Prime Minister Matej Arčon announced Thursday that the government had unanimously agreed to bar Dodik from entering Slovenia. While the reasons for the ban remain classified, local media report concerns over alleged capital transfers linked to Dodik and his allies, as well as his ownership of property in the country.

Dodik, president of Republika Srpska, was formally removed from office in August after being sentenced to prison and banned from politics for defying international oversight. However, he has refused to step down and remains a powerful figure in Bosnian Serb politics.

A vocal supporter of Moscow, Dodik has repeatedly called for the secession of Republika Srpska to join Serbia, a move that has drawn U.S. sanctions and alarmed Western officials over rising tensions in the Balkans.

Slovenia now joins Germany, Austria, Lithuania, and Poland in restricting Dodik's access as fears grow over potential Russian-backed destabilization in the region.
