Meaningful event held in Shumen honoring Nüvvâb’s contribution to Turkish Culture
On November 5, a significant panel titled “Nüvvâb’s Contribution to Turkish Culture” was held at the Shumen Hotel in Shumen, Bulgaria, with a large turnout. The event commemorated the cultural legacies of Osman Kılıç and Nuri Turgut Adalı.
The program began with a Quran recitation by Imam Tayyib Hoş from Turkey’s Beştepe National Mosque, followed by welcoming speeches from key figures, including Şerif Hüsnü, Principal of Nüvvâb İmam Hatip High School, Shumen Regional Mufti Mesut Mehmedov, Deputy Chief Mufti of Bulgarian Muslims Beyhan Mehmed, Turkish Consul General in Burgas Tolga Orkun, and TÜRKSOY Deputy Secretary-General Sayit Yusuf, all emphasizing Nüvvâb’s role in Turkish culture and spiritual values.
The panel featured two main sessions focusing on Nüvvâb's cultural impact through historical figures.
Deliorman Session
Chaired by Vedat S. Ahmed, this session centered on Osman Kılıç's legacy. Prof. Dr. Mustafa İsen highlighted Kılıç's contributions to Turkey’s bureaucracy and literary life, while Dr. Mustafa Hatipoğlu explored the personal and familial impact of Kılıç's education at Nüvvâb.
Rhodope Session
Led by Dr. Erdem Eren, this session celebrated the cultural contributions of Nuri Turgut Adalı. Prof. Dr. Etuğrul Karakuş discussed Adalı’s role in preserving Nüvvâb’s literary traditions, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atıf Akgün examined the cultural impact of Nüvvâb through historical publications. Mehmet Türker concluded by discussing Nüvvâb alumni’s dedication to preserving cultural values.
The panel, attended by Shumen Regional Governor Beynur Ahmed, concluded with a presentation of appreciation certificates from TÜRKSOY to the speakers, underscoring the lasting cultural legacy of figures like Osman Kılıç and Nuri Turgut Adalı.
