Bulgaria forms caretaker Government; two ethnic Turkish ministers in cabinet
The prime minister-designate Andrey Gyurov, accepted by President Iliana Yotova, presented the list of cabinet members on Wednesday.
Snap general elections in Bulgaria have been scheduled for April 19.
Experienced Figures and Technocrats in Key Roles
The caretaker cabinet led by Gyurov includes a mix of seasoned politicians and technocrats, a move widely interpreted as a strategic effort to stabilize governance ahead of the upcoming elections.
Among the notable appointments:
- Hasan Ademov has been named Minister of Labour and Social Policy.
- Korman Ismailov will serve as Minister of Transport.
- Observers have also highlighted the return of former Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky to a key diplomatic role, signaling continuity in Bulgaria’s foreign policy direction during the transitional period.
Political Transition Ahead of April Elections
The caretaker government is tasked with managing state affairs and organizing the early parliamentary elections set for April 19.
Bulgaria has faced prolonged political instability in recent years, with repeated elections and difficulties in forming stable coalition governments. The newly appointed cabinet is expected to focus on administrative continuity, economic stability, and electoral transparency until a new parliament is formed.
Further developments are anticipated as the election campaign officially begins in the coming weeks.
