The Bulgarian National Institute of Statistics has published a document containing the details of the 2021 census in the country.
According to the institute, the statistics prepared are based on freely declared personal information of citizens.
According to the statistics analyzed by the AA correspondent, 508 thousand 378 people are of Turkish origin in Bulgaria, where 6 million 519 thousand 789 people live.
In this case, Turks in Bulgaria correspond to 8.4 percent of the population.
Bulgarians make up 78.7 percent of the population, while Roma make up 4.4 percent.
Among the 79 thousand people who declared that they came from other groups, the most crowded group is the Pomaks, whose origin is Bulgarian but whose religion is Islam.
The Russian ethnic group also draws attention with 14 thousand.
