Road Safety Leaflet Released in Four Languages by Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Region

Aiming to strengthen road safety awareness across national and cross-border drivers, the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) has published a new multilingual informational leaflet in Greek, English, Bulgarian, and Turkish.
The initiative, led by the General Directorate of Transport and Communications and the Department of Transport of Meriç (Evros), seeks to inform both local citizens and visitors or transit drivers from neighboring countries who regularly travel through the region — particularly in the border areas of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
“This new effort is another step forward in promoting conscious driving and the protection of human life on our roads,” stated Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis, adding that the Region remains committed to prevention, education, and public awareness regarding road safety.
A Tool for Drivers Across Borders
Given the strategic location of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace as a key transit hub to and from the Balkans, the Region emphasized the need for clear and multilingual communication regarding the country’s Highway Code (K.O.K.).
The leaflet includes:
Major traffic signs with clear explanations
A list of the most common road violations in Greece
Corresponding fines and penalties under Greek traffic law
Where to Find the Leaflet
The printed material is being distributed at:
Entry points into Greece (customs offices and border crossings)
Regional Transport and Communications offices
Citizen Service Centers (KEP)
Toll stations and public information points
In addition, a digital PDF version is available for download on the official website of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, making it easily accessible to any driver.
This effort is part of a broader campaign by the Region to prevent traffic accidents and promote road education, ensuring that all drivers — Greek or foreign — understand their responsibilities and stay safe on Greek roads.
