Yassıköy Municipality holds key coordination meeting ahead of 2026 fire season
The Municipality of Yassıköy convened a high-level coordination meeting on Thursday, April 23, bringing together key civil protection and emergency response authorities to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season.
The session, organized under the Local Operational Coordination Council for Civil Protection (T.E.S.O.P.P.), was chaired by Mayor Caner Imam and focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration to mitigate wildfire risks across the region.

The meeting saw broad participation from municipal, regional, and national emergency services. Among the attendees were Deputy Mayor Hüseyin Hasan, responsible for water supply, irrigation, and sewage infrastructure, alongside senior fire service officials including Athanasios Strantzalis and Nikolaos Katsigiannakis.
Also present were representatives from law enforcement, forestry, and civil protection authorities such as Athanasios Douras, Apostolos Tomzas, and Marina Gkotsaridou.
Municipal department heads responsible for environmental management, technical services, and infrastructure also contributed to the discussions, underlining the cross-sectoral approach adopted by the municipality.
