Güner Reşit, a member of the Kozlukebir Municipal Council, has highlighted the severe water access issues faced by the residents of Dolapçılar, Hacıköy, Durhasanlar, and Baldıran villages in the Yaka region.
Water shortage continues in the Yaka Region of Kozlukebir Municipality

In his role as the General Secretary of the Kozlukebir Municipal Council, Reşit pointed out that residents in these areas are experiencing up to 22 hours of water scarcity each day, leaving only a short period during which they struggle to meet their basic needs.

Reşit also addressed the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Administration officials, urging them to at least provide drinking water to the affected regions.

In a post on his social media account, Güner Reşit wrote:

“One of our villagers is in intensive care due to the West Nile virus. Water supply to the four villages (Dolapçılar, Hacıköy, Durhasanlar, Baldıran) and the military is being attempted with just one pump from Pomona. People can no longer access water even for their basic needs. We are in constant contact with the municipal administration, and I spoke with the mayor late at night, but none of us know what can be done. There is no water for 22 hours of the day, and everyone tries to stockpile water during the remaining 2 hours for the next 22. Showers are taken with buckets and dippers. Regional officials visit for discussions, but no action is taken (at least drinking water could be provided). And this is happening in the year 2024. If Victor Hugo had written 'Les Misérables' today, he would surely have written about us.”

This statement underlines the dire situation and the urgent need for intervention to address the ongoing water crisis in the Yaka region.
