The Municipality of Dedeağaç presented the findings of the “Tourism Barometer 2025” on Monday, 17 November, during an event held at the Port Warehouse. The study, conducted by Palmos Analysis between August and October 2025, outlines visitor profiles, behaviors, and key tourism trends in the city.

According to the report, visitor satisfaction is remarkably high across several key indicators. Visitors rate the sense of safety at 4.8/5, food quality at 4.8, hospitality at 4.5, and accommodation cleanliness at 4.7. Additionally, 92% of participants stated they would recommend Alexandroupoli without hesitation.

50% of All Visitors Come from Türkiye

Average per-capita spending was calculated at €1,203, while 50% of visitors originate from Türkiye, 23% from Greece, and 17% from Balkan countries. The primary reasons for visiting the city are vacation and relaxation.
Despite the overall positive picture, several issues requiring attention were highlighted, including delays at the Bahçeköy (Kipi) Border Crossing, insufficient parking, and limited entertainment and activity options.

Mayor Yiannis Zampoukis emphasized that the study serves as an important planning tool for the city, noting the need for broader tourism diversification and the development of organized tour packages targeting Central and Northern European markets.

Based on the findings of the Tourism Barometer, the municipality is preparing targeted initiatives aimed at extending the tourism season, promoting school and sports tourism, and strengthening the region’s gastronomic identity.
