A tragic road accident occurred late Saturday night in the rural area of Xanthi, claiming the life of a 19-year-old member of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace.

The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on June 7, near the village of Megalo Oxilou (Büyük Öksüzlü) in the Tekke (Evmiro) region. According to initial reports, a car veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined and came to a halt outside the roadway.

There were two individuals inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. One of the occupants managed to exit the vehicle on their own, while the other was trapped inside. Firefighters arrived at the scene with three vehicles and a team of seven personnel. They were able to extract the trapped passenger, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Emergency crews secured the area and are continuing their inquiries.

The deceased has been identified as Hasan Imam, a 19-year-old from the village of Ketenlik, which is part of the Mustafçova Municipality. He was residing in the nearby village of Koyunköyü at the time of the accident.
