Chain of tragedies in Xanthi: Four deaths in 48 hours
Xanthi (İskeçe) has been shaken by a series of four tragic deaths within just 48 hours. The sorrow began with the suicide of Ş.K., a married man and father of two, whose body was found hanging in the village of Gökçeler. His funeral was held on Monday, July 7, with a large community turnout.
On Monday morning, another tragedy struck when Dr. A.A., a well-known ENT specialist in Xanthi, fell from the third floor of the building housing his clinic in Stoa Nousi passage. The circumstances of his death remain unclear, with initial findings suggesting possible suicide. An official investigation is underway.
Later the same day, the bodies of two 16-year-old cousins, A.H. and E.H., who had been missing since Sunday evening, were discovered in the Xanthi River near the “Path of Life” (Monopati Tis Zois) area. Their deaths deeply saddened the local community, with autopsies pending to determine the exact causes.
These consecutive tragedies have deeply affected all segments of society in Xanthi, especially given the young age of some victims, raising concern and grief across the region.
All incidents are currently under thorough investigation by local police and prosecutors.
