Regional Governor Topsidis meets farmers of Ferecik and Marhanlı
On Saturday, the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, met with farmers from the Ferecik (Feres)–Marahnlı (Peplos) area at the Dedeağaç Prefecture building, following an invitation from the Board of the Local Land Reclamation Organization (TOEV). The meeting focused on challenges facing the primary sector and the local economy.
Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Digital Governance and Evros MP Christos Dermetzopoulos, as well as Evros MPs Stavros Keletsi and Anastasios Dimoschakis.
Key topics discussed included:
– Support for producers and crops affected by this summer’s severe weather conditions.
– Compensation procedures for unsold alfalfa, which was left unmarketed due to quarantine measures imposed after an outbreak of sheep pox.
– Implementation of the new Alexandroupolis–Piraeus maritime freight line, expected to boost economic activity in the region.
“Collaboration is essential if we are to find solutions and move forward steadily. Our commitment is to stand by the people of production and to claim what is necessary for our region’s support,” Topsidis said.
