Rain prayer held in all mosques in Western Thrace

In the mosques of Rhodope, Xanthi and Evros provinces, rain prayer was held today (Friday 19 July) due to the extreme drought experienced during the year.
In the mosques where the cognates participated intensively due to Friday prayers, a rain prayer was made by the religious officials after the Friday prayers and prayers were made together. In the village of Borderdere in the Kozlukebir municipality of the Rhodope province, an ashura charity and rain prayer was held. The cognates gathered in the village mosque of Borderdere during Friday prayers and prayed for rain. Before the prayer, İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Komotini, made a speech stating the meaning and importance of the day. Mufti Şerif stated that due to the extreme drought in the region, they deemed it appropriate to organise a prayer for rain and wished that the prayers would be accepted in the sight of Allah. Mustafa Hacı İsmail Muhterem, the religious officer of Borderdere, led the Friday prayer. Then İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Komotini, performed the rain prayer. After the Friday prayer and the rain prayer, the participants were served aşure, pilaf with meat and ayran.
Ibrahim Şerif, Mufti of Komotini, Erdem Hüseyin, Mayor of Kozlukebir Municipality and council members, Tarkan Multaza, chairman of the UMUT list of Kozlukebir Municipality, Murat Ahmet representing the Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association, religious officials and compatriots from the neighbouring villages participated extensively in the aşure charity and rain prayer in Sınırdere. Meanwhile, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, performed the Friday prayer at Karşı neighbourhood Mosque in Xanthi. Mufti Trampa also participated in the rain prayer here. Mustafa Trampa had the opportunity to chat with the kinsmen after the Friday prayer.
