Police officials brief Municipality of Arriana on phone scams, domestic violence
An informational event on "Phone Scams – Domestic Violence" was successfully held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Council Hall of the Municipality of Kozlukebir (Arriana) in (Fillyra). The event took place in the presence of Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, following the Special Accountability Session and the Regular Municipal Council Meeting.
The event was co-organized by the Arriana Police Department and the Domestic Violence Prevention Office of the Komotini Police Department, with the support of the Municipality of Arriana. Its objective was to inform municipal councilors, community board presidents, and local community leaders about phone scams and domestic violence.
Phone Scams: Awareness & Prevention
The Commander of the Arriana Police Department, Police Captain Ioannis Makidis, led the session on phone scams, outlining the methods used by fraudsters, presenting real-life scam cases, and providing essential safety tips. Informational brochures on the topic were also distributed to the participants.
Domestic Violence: Support & Intervention
The Head of the Domestic Violence Prevention Office of the Komotini Police Department, Police Lieutenant Vasileios Konstantinidis, addressed the audience on domestic violence intervention services operating nationwide. These services, staffed by specialized police personnel, handle domestic violence cases, inform prosecutorial authorities, and offer guidance and resources to victims regarding shelter options, medical care, psychosocial support, and legal assistance.
