Mustafçova mayor Kurt condemns graffiti attack on Çınar Mosque
Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt has condemned an act of vandalism targeting Çınar Mosque, one of the historic places of worship in İskeçe (Xanthi), calling for those responsible to be identified and brought to justice.
Unknown individuals reportedly wrote offensive expressions on the exterior wall near the entrance of Çınar Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in İskeçe (Xanthi).
“Disrespect toward places of worship is unacceptable”
Reacting to the incident, Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt said he was deeply saddened by the attack and strongly condemned the act.
Kurt stressed that any attack or act of disrespect directed at places of worship, sacred sites or religious beliefs is unacceptable, describing the incident as a “heinous” act.
He also expressed hope that those responsible would be identified as soon as possible and brought before justice.
“Social peace must be protected”
Kurt highlighted the importance of preserving social peace, unity and solidarity, stressing that provocative actions targeting sacred places and the peace of society should not be allowed to achieve their intended effect.
He also underlined the importance of different religious and social communities continuing to live together peacefully in the region.
Kurt called for unity and solidarity to be preserved and for social peace and mutual respect to continue in the region.
