No one could solve the problem at Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School
In the statement made by the Xanthi Minority Secondary School - High School Board of Councillors and Parent-Teacher Association, it was stated that despite all the attempts made so far regarding the problem arising as a result of the imposition of shift education, no result has been reached and the problem has become more complicated.
In the statement, it was emphasised that all the initiatives made with the President of the Eastern Macedonia - Thrace Province Christos Metios and his colleagues for the solution of the shift education problem remained fruitless. It was also stated that the petitions given to the Municipality of Xanthi have not been answered until today.
"We would like to state clearly that we have not even received an official response to the petitions we have repeatedly made to the Municipality of Xanthi for the complete elimination of this problem and the placement of prefabricated classrooms in the garden of our annex building. Again, we would like to state clearly that in this process, we see that all the efforts we have made for the solution of the issue as a result of our meetings with the President of the Province Hristos Metios and his close colleagues have remained fruitless. In short, in this process, we have seen that the pre-election statements made by the authorities of the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Xanthi (Xanthi) and the State authorities, in particular, are just statements aimed at buying time until the elections are over and do not go beyond the promises for vote hunting."
The joint statement made by the Xanthi Minority Secondary School - High School Board of Councillors and the Parent-Teacher Association is as follows:
"Dear parents, honourable Western Thrace Turks,
We know that the process, which started with the imposition of shift education in Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School for about 3 weeks, followed by 11 days of boycotts and marches, has been closely followed by everyone.
In this process, the demand of us, the parents of the students, was very clear. On the first day of the school opening, a problem that never existed was created with a letter from the Secondary Education Directorate. As a result of the objections made to the relevant units and the negotiations made, it was stated that all our students would be in the morning with the letter sent to our school on Thursday, 28 September, but soon afterwards, with a verbal instruction, it was stated that the classrooms in the basement would not be used and our students would be in the morning by squeezing them into 20 classrooms. We immediately objected to this situation and reiterated our demand that our students should be in morning classes with 23 classes and we are still waiting for an answer.
On the first day of the opening of our school, all the classrooms in our school were used and our students were distributed into 25 classes. Even the authorities, who imposed that the classrooms in the basement should not be used, stated that 3 of these classrooms could be used when they visited our school. However, despite this, we see that no progress has been made towards solving this problem until the moment we make this statement.
We would like to state clearly that we have not even received an official response to our repeated petitions to the Municipality of Xanthi for the complete elimination of this problem and the placement of prefabricated classrooms in the garden of our annex building.
Again, we would like to state clearly that our meetings with the President of the State Christos Metios and his close colleagues during this process and all the efforts we have made to resolve the issue have been fruitless.
In short, in this process, we have seen that the pre-election statements made by the authorities of the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Xanthi and the State, in particular, were not more than promises to buy time until the end of the elections and to hunt for votes. Some of the candidates of Metios were so sure that this issue would be resolved that they even said that they would withdraw their candidature if it was not resolved.
This problem, which was created by the state itself in Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School, has not been resolved by the authorised units of the state, nor by the politicians and local administrators in the region, and unfortunately it has become more complicated.
Unfortunately, state units have once again instilled distrust in our cognates who want to trust their state. Which problem of this nation will be solved by the state and political will that cannot solve such a simple problem? How will Western Thrace Turks trust this state and its politicians?
At this point, unfortunately, no solution has been found to the problem in Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School.
We submit all the above-mentioned to the appreciation of the public."
