MP Zeybek condemns patient’s discharge on a plastic chair

İskeçe New Left MP Hüseyin Zeybek has strongly criticized the recent discharge of a patient from a hospital on a plastic chair due to a lack of ambulances. He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the National Health System in the region.

Raising the issue in parliament, MP Zeybek submitted a formal inquiry regarding the incident, which has sparked widespread concern among the local community.

"Specifically, an elderly woman who had previously suffered a stroke was taken to the Avdira – Bulustra Health Center for treatment. After her treatment was completed, she had to be transported home on a plastic chair in a truck due to the unavailability of an ambulance," Zeybek stated.

He further criticized the ruling New Democracy (ND) government, accusing it of neglecting the National Health System (ESY) by allowing severe deficiencies, including staff shortages, insufficient funding, and inadequate infrastructure.

"As a result, we continue to witness distressing scenes like this, which not only put patients at risk but also place an immense burden on the dedicated doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who strive to keep the system functioning despite its shortcomings," Zeybek added.

Despite repeated parliamentary inquiries and interventions concerning hospitals and health centers in İskeçe, Zeybek argued that the government has abandoned the National Health System in favor of serving specific interests.
