MP Baran: Inadequate Ministry response to strengthening the Xanthi Police Directorate

Xanthi MP Burhan Baran expresses concern over the safety of Xanthi citizens, criticizing the inadequate response of the Ministry of Citizen Protection to his inquiry from February 14, 2025, regarding the strengthening of the Xanthi Police Directorate.
The Ministry's response, which mentions the regular transfer process and the temporary reinforcement with 21 police officers, does not, according to the MP, address the increased needs of the region. Mr. Baran emphasizes that the lack of permanent and sufficient solutions for staffing the Xanthi Police Directorate remains a significant challenge. He points out that local residents continue to feel helpless in the face of increased crime and daily challenges.
Although the Ministry mentions that the Xanthi Police Directorate is temporarily reinforced with additional personnel and that continuous upgrades are being made to their equipment and infrastructure, the MP argues that these measures are inadequate. He stresses the need for immediate and permanent solutions, such as hiring new police officers and enhancing the infrastructure of the Police Directorate.
The MP calls for the development of a long-term strategic plan to enhance policing in the area, which should address the region's real needs. While the Ministry highlights the implementation of special operational plans to combat crime, the lack of a comprehensive and permanent solution continues to concern the local community.
Mr. Baran states he is determined to continue parliamentary pressure to ensure the safety of Xanthi’s citizens.
