Metios calls on Topsidis to clarify: Is he a shareholder in a Turkish company despite legal prohibitions?
The head of the New Regional Renaissance, Christos Metios, has called on Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis to respond publicly regarding allegations that he may be a shareholder in a foreign company based in Turkey. The claim was first made in an article published on November 4 by Evros-News.gr, which reported Topsidis allegedly holds shares in KOSMOS VİZE HİZMETLERİ LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ, a visa-issuing company based in Istanbul.
Greek law (Law 3213/2003, as amended) explicitly prohibits regional governors from participating in the management or capital of foreign-based companies, either directly or indirectly through intermediaries such as spouses or close family members. Violation of this law could result in imprisonment, substantial financial penalties, and administrative sanctions.
Metios emphasized that Topsidis has remained silent on the issue for four days, raising serious legal and political concerns. He affirmed that his party will take necessary steps to bring transparency to the situation and ensure that the public is fully informed. He also warned that any attempt to downplay or conceal the issue would be unacceptable.
