MeRA25 has strongly opposed the planned CO₂ storage facility in Prinos, Thasos, calling it a “false green solution” that benefits energy companies at the expense of public safety and the environment. The party expressed support for local communities and urged the government to withdraw the project.

The proposal, approved for environmental licensing, includes onshore facilities, a 20-kilometer subsea pipeline, offshore platforms, and injection wells in a seismically active area near residential zones and protected Natura sites. MeRA25 warned of serious risks to ecosystems, the marine environment, and public health.

The party called on authorities, environmental groups, and citizens to demand the revocation of licenses, halt contractor operations, and shift to genuinely green, decentralized energy solutions. MeRA25 affirmed its support for local movements defending safety, dignity, and environmental integrity.
