Meaningful visits by Advisory Board Chairman and Mufti Trampa in Gökçepınar
Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa, drew praise for his series of thoughtful visits following a Qur’an completion ceremony (hatim) held in Gökçepınar on Sunday, May 25.
After attending the religious ceremony, Mufti Trampa, accompanied by a delegation, visited Salih Cambaz, a retired imam who served for many years at the Gökçepınar Mosque. The visit was seen as a strong gesture of respect and appreciation, emphasizing the value of loyalty within the community. Cambaz expressed his gratitude, stating:
“I thank Mustafa Trampa, both our Advisory Board Chairman and our Mufti, and wish him continued success in his duties.”
On the same day, the delegation also visited Erkan Azizoğlu, the current imam of Gökçepınar, who was unable to attend the ceremony due to health reasons. Having recently undergone eye surgery, Imam Azizoğlu welcomed the visit and thanked the delegation for their kind support.
In a brief statement, Mufti Trampa remarked:
“Showing appreciation to the spiritual architects of our community is a core part of our faith and culture. Today’s visits reflect that belief.”
The visiting delegation included representatives of several regional institutions and organizations. Among them were:

- Cavit Karabıyıklı, Theologian and Imam of Yassıören
- Salih Belço and Salih İmamoğlu, Instructors at the Gökçepınar Qur’an Course
- Mustafa Kamu, Theologian
The visits in Gökçepınar delivered a strong message of unity and solidarity, reaffirming the Turkish minority community’s deep respect and appreciation for its religious leaders.
