Kozlukebir Municipality declared a disaster zone due to locust infestation

The Regional Administration of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) has declared certain areas within the Kozlukebir Municipality (Rodopi Prefecture) a "disaster zone" due to a severe locust infestation reported in recent days.

According to an official statement released by the Kozlukebir Municipal Administration:

“Due to the recent locust invasion, the Regional Authority of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has declared our Kozlukebir Municipality a DISASTER ZONE.

We kindly request our citizens to promptly notify the municipal authorities about any locations where locusts are observed. Spraying operations will be carried out in the affected areas.”

The locust outbreak has raised concerns among local farmers and residents, as such infestations can cause significant damage to crops and vegetation. Local authorities are urging the public to cooperate with reporting and containment efforts to minimize agricultural and ecological harm.
