Kipi, Kastanies border crossings to be renovated
The delegation of the Ministry met with the representatives of the local administration in Evros and discussed the problems and needs. The delegation of the Ministry also participated in working meetings where problems were discussed and solution proposals were discussed.
Minister Livanios and Deputy Minister Gioulekas, accompanied by the President of the Province of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, and the Administrative Secretary of Macedonia-Thrace, Ioannis Savvas, visited Kipi and Kastanies customs on Wednesday 17 July.
At Kipi Customs, the ministerial delegation announced plans to open new gates to reduce the congestion of vehicles waiting at the checkpoints and to improve the waiting conditions for thousands of drivers and passengers. The ministerial delegation then visited the fencing area in the areas of Dimetoka, Alexandroupoli, Sofullu and Kumçiftliği, and also visited the military outpost in the border area of Kastanies.
On the same day, the minister and the accompanying delegation met with the mayors of Dimetoka, Alexandroupoli, Kumchifchigi and Sofullu in a working meeting.
