Joyful iftar gathering in Şahin Village

The series of communal iftar programs organized by the Xanthi Mufti’s Office continued with a festive gathering in Şahin Village on the evening of March 17, Monday.

Despite adverse weather conditions, the iftar was held inside the Şahin Karacaahmet Mosque, bringing together members of the Turkish minority and high-level officials from Türkiye.

Among the distinguished guests were former Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and Istanbul MP Mustafa Şentop, Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, Edirne MP Fatma Aksal, Rector of Trakya University Mustafa Hatipler, İpsala District Governor Ömer Sevgili, İpsala Mayor Mehmet Kerman, and many other officials who embraced the Turkish minority community in Şahin Village.

Additionally, the event was attended by Turkey's Consul General in Komotini Aykut Ünal, Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board President and Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa, Komotini Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Turkish Minority MPs Burhan Baran, Hüseyin Zeybek, and Özgür Ferhat, Deputy Governor İrfan Hacıgene, DEB Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt, Yassıköy Mayor Caner İmam, Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, along with regional council members, association heads, and other community leaders.

Condolence Visit Before Iftar
Before the iftar, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, Governor Yunus Sezer, MP Fatma Aksal, and District Governor Ömer Sevgili visited the family of Enes Kurak, the nephew of the late elected Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa, to express their condolences.

A Spiritual Atmosphere in Şahin Village
Following the iftar, a special Terawih prayer was performed at Şahin Yukarı Mahalle Mosque, led by Hafız Alpcan Çelik, the World Champion of the Qur'an Recitation Competition and Imam of Istanbul's Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque. His beautiful recitation deeply moved the congregation.

After the prayer, a relic of Prophet Muhammad's beard (Sakal-ı Şerif), brought from Istanbul by Mustafa Şentop, was displayed, creating an intensely spiritual atmosphere as worshippers recited salawat and paid their respects.

The evening concluded with a gathering at a local café, where Şentop and his delegation enjoyed tea and conversations with the Turkish minority community before departing Western Thrace with warm greetings and messages of solidarity for Türkiye.
