Important messages were given at the event, which started with the opening speeches of Gülcan Mümin and Sevcan Hacıali, project managers of "Hope for Women, Life for Society".

Project managers Gülcan Mümin and Sevcan Hacıali stated that they decided to implement the project they started last year, called "Being a Woman in the Balkan Arms", in different regions of Xanthi, under the name of "Hope for Women, Life for Society", taking into account the high demand this year.

Stating that women in Xanthi region, whose spouses have to work abroad for most of the year, are under many responsibilities, the project managers stated that they aim to give them some hope by supporting the Western Thrace Turkish women with such social projects in the face of their heavy responsibilities.

Speaking at the event, Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association, stated that they believe in the power of Western Thrace Turkish women and that they wish to make our women stronger with such projects.

In his speech, Dr. Baltacı drew attention to the oppressive practices of Greece against the Turks of Western Thrace. Stating that the oppressions could not intimidate the Western Thrace Turkish Community, Baltacı said that such pressures make us more clamped.

Speaking at the event, Mayor of Miki (Mustafçova) Rıdvan Delihüseyin stated that they would support this project, which they strongly supported last year, in the same way. Stating that our women deserve all kinds of support, Delihüseyin emphasized the importance of acting together and establishing correct communication in order to keep the society alive. Delihüseyin stated that such projects are very important in terms of establishing correct communication with our women and wished the project to be successful this year as well.

In his speech, Xanthi Deputy Burhan Baran emphasized the importance of such studies and underlined that very successful results would be obtained if they were carried out in a planned, programmed and scientific manner. Deputy Baran also touched upon the recent oppression and stated that they also suffered in the Greek parliament as the Turkish minority people suffer in daily life.

Stating that these pressures have increased especially in the last period, Baran said that they unfortunately want to cut the cost of the strained Turkish-Greek relations to the minority. Indicating that he is one of those who sincerely believe that Greece is a democratic country, MP Baran said that this democracy unfortunately does not work when it comes to a minority, when we say Turks, and he does not believe that this will change anytime soon.
