Western Thrace Turkish women represented at Balkan women’s gathering in Skopje
Organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) and the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK), the gathering brought together senior officials from Türkiye and North Macedonia, Turkish women entrepreneurs from across the Balkans, and representatives of various institutions and organizations.
Among the prominent participants were Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, North Macedonia’s State Minister Zülfikar Zeynula, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Skopje Fatih Ulusoy, North Macedonian MPs, DTİK Balkan Representatives Council Chairman Levent Sadık Ahmet, DTİK North Macedonia Representative Fatih Şahbaz, and representatives of DEİK and DTİK.
Western Thrace was represented by Zeynep Tevfikoğlu, President of the Association of Minority Scientists of Western Thrace (BTAYTD) and spokesperson for Queensberry, a blueberry production company operating in Western Thrace; DEB Party Chairman and company partner Çiğdem Asafoğlu; company partner İclal Ahmet; and a group of young women from Western Thrace.
Tevfikoğlu highlights strength and determination of Western Thrace Turkish women
Speaking on a panel where women entrepreneurs from across the Balkans shared their experiences, Zeynep Tevfikoğlu highlighted the strength, hard work, determination and resilience of Western Thrace Turkish women.
Tevfikoğlu provided information about the establishment and activities of Queensberry and shared the company’s story with participants. Addressing younger generations, she encouraged them to remain patient, wait for the right opportunity and take the first step with courage when that opportunity arises.
Expressing her excitement and happiness at being together with Turkish women from across the region, Tevfikoğlu conveyed the greetings of Western Thrace Turkish women. She also thanked Levent Sadık Ahmet, owner of Blue Farm, on behalf of the Queensberry partners for creating an entrepreneurial opportunity for them and contributing a new vision to Western Thrace.
Western Thrace delegation meets Minister Göktaş
As part of the gathering, the Western Thrace delegation also met with Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş for an exchange of views.
The gathering in Skopje provided an important platform for Turkish women entrepreneurs from across the Balkans to share their experiences, strengthen networks and explore opportunities for greater regional cooperation.
