As part of this study, genetic tests will be conducted on women residing in the Rhodope region who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The main objective is to identify hereditary predisposition and determine genetic risks. Through this program, patients who meet the international NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) criteria but are not covered by the National Health Insurance Organization (EOPYY) will receive free genetic testing.
Eligible Participants for the Program:
- Patients over 45 years old diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer
- Patients aged 45-62 diagnosed with hormone-dependent and HER2-negative breast cancer
- Patients diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer (either simultaneously or at different times)
- Male patients diagnosed with breast cancer, regardless of age
- Women who meet EOPYY criteria but are uninsured
- Patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, without any other criteria required
How Does the Process Work?
- First, a family tree of the patient will be created, and genetic counseling will be provided via phone.
- A blood sample will be collected and sent to the relevant laboratory via courier, organized by the Dinami Psihis Association. Patients will be required to sign a written consent form to participate in the process.
- Once the results are available, genetic counseling will be provided to patients over the phone. The results will be explained in detail, and patients will have access to necessary support services.
Individuals interested in participating can contact the Association of Cancer Patients and Friends of Rhodope at +30 25310 31061 during weekdays from 09:00 to 14:00. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
