On September 21, 2024, Mustafa Trampa, the elected Mufti of Xanthi, became the target of defamatory propaganda by the well-known anti-Turkish and anti-Islamic journalist Nikos Arvanitis, who published the attack through his KomotiniPress news site.
Fake News on Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa

According to Turkey’s Yeni Haber newspaper, Mufti Trampa had attended the wedding of the Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay’s son. The wedding, held in Konya, featured high-profile guests, including three Turkish ministers, mayors, and international figures. During his visit, Trampa also made official calls, meeting with Necmettin Erbakan University’s Dean of Theology, Prof. Dr. Kamil Güneş, and Konya Provincial Mufti Ali Öge.

Arvanitis, infamous for his attacks on the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace, falsely claimed that Trampa had attended the wedding merely to "eat sweets" and accused him of avoiding Turkey’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal. However, the close and friendly relationship between Trampa and Consul Ünal made these allegations appear baseless and laughable to the public.

The Turkish Minority, often subjected to smear campaigns, viewed this attack on Mufti Trampa as part of a broader effort to undermine and discredit elected Muftis and the Muslim Turkish Minority in Western Thrace.
