BTAYTD women’s branch organises cultural trip to Çanakkale and Gökçeada
The overnight trip gave participants the opportunity to visit sites of historical and spiritual significance in Çanakkale, as well as explore the historical heritage and natural landscapes of Gökçeada.
Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial was first stop
The first stop on the itinerary was the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial and the surrounding memorial sites.
During the visit to the area where the Çanakkale Battles took place, participants commemorated those who lost their lives during the battles, remembering them with respect and gratitude.
The visit provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the historical significance of the Gallipoli campaign and the memorial sites associated with it.
Exploring Gökçeada’s historical and natural heritage
Following the Çanakkale programme, the group travelled to Gökçeada, where participants explored the island’s historical and cultural heritage.
Known for its historical character as well as its natural landscapes, Gökçeada provided participants with an opportunity to experience the island’s cultural heritage and local environment.
Asafoğlu, Tevfikoğlu and Ünal also joined the trip
The cultural trip was also attended by Friendship Equality Peace Party (DEB) President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, BTAYTD President Zeynep Tevfikoğlu and İlayda Ünal, wife of Aykut Ünal, Consul General of Türkiye in Gümülcine (Komotini).
In a statement, BTAYTD thanked the Women’s Branch administration for its efforts in organising the trip and all the women who took part in the programme.
